Abstract: In German-speaking countries the cooperative science is in a critical phase. On the one hand, she does not receive much attention in the scientific community. On the contrary, research results seldom are of relevance for the cooperative practice. As a remedial measure, the cooperative science as well as cooperative practice should make better use of their potentials and combine forces. In some respect, the cooperative sector in Germany seems to be a sleeping giant which has to be awakened.
