Abstract: A primary objective of modem credit institution risk management could be the quest for a single risk indicator representing the bank's overall risk position. Such an indicator could then be used as a controlling tool. Given this, the paper evaluates, how far risk diversification effects could be taken into consideration if the risk-bearing capability of a cooperative bank is to be identified. Aspects of bank supervision will be taken into account too.
