Abstract:
Microfinance institutions may facilitate the foundation of companies, in developing as well as in developed countries. This article focuses on policy-related issues of microcredit programmes in Austria. In many cases, private and public partners together with financial institutions support the process of credit allocation via consulting services, special credit terms, or contingent liability. By evaluating particular institutional cooperations we show that there is considerable potential for a promotion of cooperative solutions.
