Abstract: Housing cooperatives are successful since over 100 years, but rarely publicly acknowledged. This article overviews the situation of housing cooperatives in Germany. Benefits of the cooperative solution are presented generally as well as specificly for the market situation. Considering the present and conceivable demands, riks are analysed and possible solutions are discussed.
