Abstract: The german population has a generally positive attitude towards energy cooperatives (EG) and imputes a significant potential for the support of the energy transition to the young protagonists in the German energy landscape. This arose in a questionnaire-based survey on non-members. The safety of the investment and the level of return seem to be mostly irrelevant for the commitment in energy cooperatives. Environment protection, stability of energy prices and the participation of citizens in the energy transition are the most important reasons for joining an EG.
