Abstract:
Driven by crisis, re-regulation causes transaction costs which pose considerable liabilities for small and medium-sized banks (SME banks). Representatives of the concerned banks as well as regulators reacted to this by proposing proportional, graduated banking regulation. The cooperative banking sector might benefit from this due to its high ratio of small banks. We hereinafter discuss the proposals.
