Abstract:
The cooperative principles are often endeavored as a unique feature of the cooperative banks in competition. But how is the real life of the cooperative banks about their implementation intensity and impact on success? This question is devoted to an empirical study published as a dissertation at the cooperative research institute in Nuremberg. The study concludes that the mission and identity principles do not have a high impact on bank-cooperative practice, while the self-help, self-reliance, self-administration and regionality principles are very pronounced. An interaction of the principles with the economic success can be seen in the self-help, self-response and self-administration principle. Funding, identity and regionality principle have little impact on economic success.
