Abstract: The article describes the establishment of an educational cooperative, the CHANCEN eG, to finance tuition fees. The goals of the social enterprise founded in 2016 from the surroundings of the University of Witten/Herdecke are equal opportunities and self-determination when choosing a career. In particu­lar, the reasons for the choice of the legal form of the cooperative, as well as the financing modei of the cooperative, the income share agreement, are discussed. In addition, the contribution represents the recent development of CHANCEN eG and its current challenges.
