Abstract: The digital platform business is currently gaining significant importance in the financial services industry. It can be assumed that in a few years more than 50% of construction finance will no longer be concluded via the traditional way of bank advice at the house bank, but via digital platforms and intermediaries. This presents regional banks with the challenge of either facing up to this reality and opening up to the platform business or giving up significant market potential. VR-Bank Mittelfranken West eG 2017 has implemented the digital platform business as a new sales period and has experienced that the chances for cooperative banks to be valued very high to continue to participate in this market segment in the future. A clear strategy and detailed implementation planning are important. The following experience report shows which concrete steps VR-Bank Mittelfranken West eG has taken in strategy development and project implementation in connection with the introduction of the digital platform business for construction finance and what successes have been achieved.
