Abstract:
In the shadow of nutrition culture. The example of shrimps. Nutrition usually is not an issue of economic geography. The article focuses on relations of proximity and distance with situations of nutrition. It focuses on ethical and aesthetic questions of the relationship to food. Updating the theses of Norbert Elias the article tackles the relationship between food-industry, economics of desires, diets, lifestyle and several types of consumption. The subject is exemplified by the global trade in shrimps. The article is based on its positioning in economic geography and ends with an outline of a holistic ethic of food and nature.
