Abstract:
Sustainability as a general principle - radical change in the transport and logistic sector? The principle of sustainability is discussed in politics, society and companies for quite some time. Hence, the transport and logistic sector as a part of the economy has also been affected. This paper evaluates, whether, in which way and to what extent the principles of the concept of sustainability are implemented by politics and companies. Furthermore, it investigates the degree of influence of these actions on the transport of goods. It appears, neither the setting of the course of the European transport policy nor the realized measures of the companies, are a sufficient foundation to speak of a change towards a sustainable economy.
