ESL proficiencyheavily relies on sociolinguistic awareness or the knowledge of how language functions in varioussociocultural contexts. The study combines quantitative and qualitative techniques to investigate thisphenomenon thoroughly. The results show that sociolinguistic awareness and sociocultural competence, sociolinguistic adaptation, and total language competency among ESL learners are strongly positivelycorrelated. This study highlights the transformative potential of incorporating sociolinguistic training into theESL curriculum, giving students the tools to traverse various sociocultural environments successfully
