Abstract:
A technological development is presented that promotes the correct deposit of solid waste produced by students and staff of a higher education institution. It is considered to install in the upper base of a container, a waste sorter, in order to collaborate through the application of mechatronic engineering to the environmental process linked to the concept of sustainability. The methodology is divided into four phases that describe the identification of the waste, programming, design and construction of the container. This sorter was developed and presented in a prototype with elements that automate its operation, with the versatility of recognizing plastic bottles and aluminum containers.
