HEADFIRST: Advancing Motorcycle Safety through an Intelligent Smart Helmet System

Abstract:
For a densely populated country like India, road accidents are a significant issue, particularly for two-wheelers. Common causes include poor road conditions, driving under the influence, not wearing helmets, and delayed emergency response times. The proposed study introduces an intelligent system designed to prevent two-wheeler accidents and provide immediate accident detection for timely medical assistance. This system comprises two main modules: the helmet and bike module. The helmet module ensures the rider wears a helmet and is not intoxicated; only then will the bike start, enabled by a relay circuit. Accident-detection sensors identify accidents and automatically dispatch emergency messages, while a bypass button allows riders to cancel emergency messages if help is unnecessary. The bike module manages the engine and communication based on inputs from the helmet module, monitors road conditions, and logs data for accident prevention and maintenance insights.
