Abstract:
Competitive strategies in the fast-changing information economy are distinct from strategies in more traditional sectors of the economy. Today, the reason the entity must consider their intangible asset is because it supports and gives coherence to the strategy itself, and if strategically exploited can be a source of sustainable competitive advantage through time. Strategy deals not just with the unpredictable but also with the unknowable. Consequently, the essence of strategy is to build a posture that is so strong, but in the same time, potentially flexible in selective ways that the organization can achieve its goals despite the unforeseeable ways external forces may actually interact when the time comes. The essence of strategy formulation is to deal with competitors. However, goal development is an integral part of strategy formulation.
