Abstract:
This paper proposes an econometric analysis giving information regarding possible interactions between labour and health in Francebased onthe?Emploi dutemps? (time use) survey. Usingtwo measures of health, oneobjective and the othersubjective, the estimation of models consisting of simultaneous discrete-choice equations reveal that the fact of being in poor health substantially reduces the probability of participating inthe labour market, whereasthe fact of being in work has no particularinfluence on state of health. Theconstruction of suitable statistical sources, notably longitudinal data, would make it possible to go further in examining the links between labour and health.
