Abstract: The inequalities of net annual wages, estimated via the Gini ratio, declined by about 8% between 1976 and 2000. The indicator fell from 0.322 to 0.296. By using the Gini decomposition and dividing the French population by age group, gender, occupational category, and geographic area, we can estimate the distribution of inequalities over the period.
