Abstract:
Using a production frontier approach, this paper examines the sources of total factor productivity growth in burkinabe cotton farms. The outcomes show deterioration in total factor productivity growth of 0.40 % over the study period, which is mainly due to the decline of technical efficiency growth rate (0.38 %). The decreasing returns to scale (0.02 %) and allocative inefficiency (0.02 %) also contributed to the loss of total factor productivity growth. However, the results indicate a slight increase in the rate of technical progress from 0.02 % in cotton farms.
