Typhoons and urbanization in Vietnam

Abstract:
From 1992 to 2020, we counted 79 typhoon strikes in Vietnam. We studied the locations affected by these violent storms and found no evidence that urban areas were less likely to expand to places more prone to typhoons. JEL Codes: Q54, Q52, C21, O53.
