Abstract:
Faced with the need to individualize support practices for business creation, being able to characterize entrepreneur profiles has become crucial for professionals in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In line with the emerging efforts aiming to better understand student entrepreneurs, our research examines which commitment profiles are the most likely to foster personal investment in their project. We conducted a survey of individuals with the French national student entrepreneur status (statut national étudiant-entrepreneur; SNEE). We sought to determine which commitment logics stem from intentions to start a business in the short term or in the long term, respectively, and if they could explain the student entrepreneurs? investment of resources in their projects. Our results highlight different commitment profiles among student entrepreneurs, the identification of which might enable practitioners to adapt the support they provide to the diversity of entrepreneurial paths, and also to be aware of their respective risks at the individual level.
