What does freedom mean in liberated companies?

Ann-Charlotte Teglborg Ashworth, Patrick Gilbert and Nathalie Raulet-Croset

Entreprendre & innover, 2022, vol. n° 53, issue 2, 34-45

Abstract: An increasing number of French companies are aspiring to develop alternative workplaces in which freedom is an underlying principle. In the literature on liberated companies (LCs), it is stated that employees should have ?complete freedom?. Nevertheless, there is no evidence of what freedom in practice actually means. Therefore, building on an analysis of the philosophical foundations of freedom and the analysis of two case studies, we bring some fresh insights on what freedom is like in liberated companies. Our results present five philosophical conceptions of freedom at play in liberated companies.
