Abstract:
Business modeling tools have been used for several years in entrepreneurship education and business incubation programs to help students and start-up entrepreneurs develop their business projects. More recently, the triple economic, social and environmental requirement of sustainable development has been integrated into the criteria for business success. Thus, several sustainable business modeling tools have emerged, the latter being more or less adapted to educational contexts. This article presents the Responsible Business Model Canvas (RBMC), a tool that aims to help students and start-up entrepreneurs ask themselves the right questions to develop business models in line with the requirements of the socio-ecological transformation. The tool integrates both a financial perspective and normative elements related to sustainability, including the purpose of the business, the integration of a diversity of stakeholders and their management, as well as the positive and negative impacts of its activities.
