Abstract:
Artist run centres constitute an original model of production and diffusion of artistic products. They are composed of artists, who take on activities of communication, management, as well as production and distribution of artistic products, without abandoning their initial reason for being, that is the creation of art. We studied the factors which favour their development, as well as the contribution of these organizations to the development of the ?creative city? (Landry, 2000 ; Landry et Bianchini 1995 ; Florida, 2002), and the development of local initiatives centered on art and culture. We also looked into the contribution of the State departments or State-supported initiatives, since they can also contribute to support these centers, and thus the local artistic dynamism.
