Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to highlight geographical localization of French prolific inventors. We construct a US patents data set for French inventors and use it to show that French prolific inventors are very concentrated within France around Paris and the Rhône-Alpes region. Then we study inventor mobility between regions for Rhône-Alpes and Paris inventors and find a new set of relationships . Econometric analysis of the mobility and productivity of the overall population of 1163 French prolific inventors indicates that there is a significant relationship between inventors? interfirm mobility and their productivity.
