Abstract:
This paper aims to contribute to the work carried out on socio-spatial inequalities taking as an entry angle, not socio-professional categories, gender, origin or income but objective well-being. It is focused on the inequalities of well-being between urban and rural spaces within the Rhône-Alpes region. First of all, the choice and construction of our objective measure of well-being are justified and presented. On this basis, is calculated the level of well-being of an average individual for all Rhone-alpine communes (municipalities). Secondly, the geography of well-being levels in the Rhône-Alpes region shows the co-presence of poles with poles of ill-being. Finally, using a hierarchical upward classification of Rhone-alpine municipalities based on the components of well-being, is highlighted the existence of certain inequalities between rural and Rhone-Alpine urban areas.
