D'un capitalisme managérial... à l'autre

Abstract:
J.K. Galbraith analyses in his 1974 book The New Industrial State a precise form of managerial capitalism. He stresses the role of large firms and of their managers in the development of the coordinated market mechanisms which insured the stready growth of the Golden Years of capitalism. This scheme has been largely challenged in the recent decades by the deeper internationalisation of these large firms and the rise of financial criteria in their governance. But far from being fatal this drift results largely from the one which affects, unopposed, an opportunistic share of CEOs.
