Abstract:
Many recent works have shown the influence of borders in the international trade. Due to the existence of such borders, the flows between countries stay at a lower level than the intra-national trade. Using the border effects methodology, we study the regional integration of the Balkan countries over the period 1993-97. The results suggest the presence of a strong home biais within the mutual trade of the Balkans.
