Comment réduire les écarts régionaux de pauvreté dans le contexte de la décentralisation ?

Abdoulaye Zonon

Mondes en développement, 2006, vol. 133, issue 1, 31-44

Abstract: Poverty affects currently near half of Burkinabé that is why it is become one of the main concerns of the authorities. Burkina Faso is involved in a decentralization process that led recently to the creation of thirteen administrative regions with various level of development. These inequalities brought about regional huge disparities according to poverty headcount ratio. This study uses a panel data model including nine variables such as alphabetization rate, public expenditures, rainfall, cotton production, road etc. Among these variables, three turn to be relevant on regional poverty. It concerns alphabetization rate, urbanization rate and population density.
