Abstract: Based on a monetary approach critical, identifying the poverty pertinent dimensions is a central debate of the two last decades. First, the article recalls the debate arguments. Then, it contributes to it proposing an empirical analysis of social representations of poverty. To study the links between these ones and usual poverty indicators, we propose an application to Madagascar Highlands.
