Abstract:
Financing investment loans is a key element for rural development in southern countries. However, many obstacles limit microfinance institutions ability to deliver mid and long term loans. Relying on West African countries, this paper develops two promising channels in order to improve microfinance contribution in that field : the potential role of financial cooperatives and articulation with public policies.
