Abstract:
The relationship between Government and NGOs in the context of the distribution of the Public Aid for Development presents certain features of a principal-agent relationship, due to the transfer of funds and the informational asymmetry. The non-profit nature of these organizations should lessen the agent behavior of the NGOs. In the Swiss case, principal position of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation is attenuated by the controller role of the Parliament.
