Abstract:
The significant number of new mining projects in Africa has raised many questions about the synergies between the private and public sectors in the development of such projects. The position taken by the mining companies and the states and the inequalities between the different actors contribute to creating uncertainty in the public?private relationship and its perception. Through research and expertise conducted between 2008 and 2019 in West Africa, we propose to re-examine the stakeholder roles and responsibilities in building synergies between the private and public sectors. We will explore strategies deployed on both sides to understand the interests that influence the implementation of policies.
