Les politiques publiques peuvent-elles lutter contre la sous-nutrition des enfants ? Application au Sénégal

Valérie Berenger and Jean-Claude Vérez

Mondes en développement, 2021, vol. n° 195, issue 3, 29-52

Abstract: Senegal faces many human development challenges, including undernutrition among preschool children. Using Senegalese data from the 2005 and 2015 Demographic and Health Survey, we use multilevel logistic regression models to identify individual and contextual determinants of risk of chronic undernutrition in children under five. Our results show the interactions between household characteristics (household socioeconomic status or mother's education) and contextual factors (availability of basic services). Taking these interactions into account allows for better targeting of public policies.
