Abstract:
The debate on vacant positions focuses on the supposed mismatch between candidates? skills and business needs. The typical answer is to give job seekers or young people the appropriate training for available jobs. However, this mismatch only explains a very limited share of vacancies. These are mainly related on the one hand to the functioning of the labour market that implies a minimal duration for the recruiting process. On the other hand, recruiters? lack of experience leads to recruitment failures that are more frequent in small-sized companies.
