Abstract:
Poverty in France is both a social condition and one of the categories of public policy. With regard to the latter, the fight against poverty has been increasingly linked to the return to employment. In a broader sense, this fight and the regulation of the lowest segments of the labor market have become more and more dependent on each other. This article deals with the state of poverty in France and the policies that fight against it, along with their limits. Finally, the increasingly close relations between the fight against poverty and the linking of welfare recipients to the labor market are analyzed.
