Abstract: Based on surveys conducted before the 2012 presidential campaign, this paper questions the inclusion of ?diverse? candidates (candidates from a diverse ethnic background) within the political field. Even if political parties claim that their objective is to increase the number of black and Arab candidates, their representation in fact still remains very weak. Candidates? ethnicity is manipulated in order to secure votes, while they would prefer to be considered as ordinary candidates.
