Abstract:
The savings of the poor are often considered to be of a different rationality than other types of savings. Due to insufficient information, various real and cognitive ?barriers,? the poor seem to be unable to save. If the definition of savings is extended to non-monetary forms and informal practices, the savings of developing countries can be reconsidered in a new light of social interdependence that guides economic practices.
