Abstract:
This article describes the problems of competition in the use of a common resource such as water, pointing out the issues related to climate change and socioeconomic changes that may challenge the free nature of this resource. We then tackle the possible actions to limit the overexploitation of this resource, such as taxes, water markets, and the role of international trade, as well as the consequences on the competitiveness of the most water-intensive sectors.
