Abstract: City-dwellers are under new environmental and social pressures, from which ?soft? factors of city attractiveness are emerging. The increasing importance of natural amenities in individuals' choice of location illustrates a shift toward a qualitative model of city attractiveness and away from the prevailing productivity-based model.
