Abstract:
Early sociological studies on unemployment focused on how the unemployed dealt with time, as an important component of their experience. This interview addresses these questions by defining unemployment as a temporal trial: it leads to a disorganization compared to the rhythm of employment and confronts the unemployed with choices in their time management, according to unequal resources and constraints. This temporal trial is further reinforced by the institutional control of the job search.
