Abstract: Mining generates specific perceptions of time and expectations about its impact on workers? lives. This paper traces the trajectory of the Romanian underground miners? group by contrasting three configurations of uncertainty that shed light on the joint transformation of the miners? living conditions (both material and symbolic) and their expectations.
