Démocratiser le long terme

Daniel Agacinski

Regards croisés sur l'économie, 2021, vol. n° 29, issue 2, 220-229

Abstract: ?The earth belongs in usufruct to the living [not to the dead]?, claimed Thomas Jefferson during the American Revolution. The concern for future generations is rooted in the history of democracy itself. With climate change, this responsibility has never been so intense, and it puts democracy under strain. How can we undertake a resolute long-term transition without undermining the core principle of democracy: freedom of choice?
