Abstract:
In this interview, Éric Monnet discusses the role of central banks in warranting price stability. This role finds itself recast by the current inflationary crisis. He evokes the standard instruments at the disposal of central banks, their limits and possible alternatives. He also suggests that a renewal of the coordination between fiscal and monetary policies could help to face price hikes, tame inflationary potentials in the future, and meet the challenges of the low-carbon transition.
