La brevetabilité du vivant et ses implications sur la conservation des semences

Claudio Brenni

Regards croisés sur l'économie, 2023, vol. n° 33, issue 2, 122-131

Abstract: This article analyzes the implications of the institutionalization of intellectual property for the conservation of agrobiodiversity. The extension of patentability to seeds undermines the link between seed-saving practices and agricultural innovation. Since conservation is not considered profitable, it must be ensured through international agreements, as it plays a central role in securing yields.
