Abstract:
In this paper we develop an OLG model with heterogenous dynasties and wealth accumulation which allows us to study analytically the emergence of a class-society and the wealth inequality dynamics. We determine when a dynasty belongs to the upper, the middle or the working class. Interestingly, we focus on the (possible) existence of successive runs of generations which work and compose a patrimony (the ants) and of generations which behave as rentiers and squander the accumulated wealth (the grasshoppers). Moreover, despite a deterministic framework, the model permits to explain the existence of inequalities between similar individuals. Classification JEL : D31, D91, D11, E13
