La montée de l'instabilité professionnelle et ses causes

Pauline Givord and Eric Maurin

Revue économique, 2003, vol. 54, issue 3, 617-626

Abstract: In this paper, we analyze the changes in the risks of involuntary job loss in France between 1982 and 2000. We find that these risks are higher in the 1990s than they were in the 1980s, for both educated and non-educated workers, high-seniority and low-seniority workers. The decline in job security began before the relaxing of labor laws in 1986 and persists after the reaffirmation of more restrictive regulations in 1990. This decline is also more pronounced in industries that have the largest share of new technology users in the late nineties. Classification JEL : J23 J63
