Abstract:
We propose in this paper to analyse the location of multinational firms value chain in the European Union and new accessing countries. With a conditional logit and a mixed logit, we investigate the location determinants of production and service functions of multinational firms. We use a unique set of recently collected individual firms data about almost 11.000 location choices during the period 1997-2002, which include both the sector and the type of activity of each investment. Beyond country characteristics, we consider the functional specialisation aspect. We also put forward the importance of within group co-location due to vertical linkages between the value chain sequences. Classification JEL : F22, L22, R3.
