La mobilité de la main-d'œuvre en Europe. Le rôle des caractéristiques individuelles et de l'hétérogénéité entre pays

Abstract: This article develops a descriptive analysis of labour market transitions in Europe. Using eu-silc database for the years 2006-2007, it focuses on transitions between employment, unemployment and inactivity. It appears that the quality of these transitions is correlated to factors such as education, gender, age as well as health or marital status. In particular, some social groups such as low skilled, women, youth, senior workers and people with ill-health seem particularly affected by unfavourable transitions. In a comparative perspective, the hypothesis of inter-country heterogeneity is empirically validated, and some countries seem to increase the average probability to experience favourable mobility (Nordic countries). Besides, it appears that inequalities between social groups in terms of transitions vary greatly across countries. Classification JEL : J08, J60
