Abstract:
Crop diversification has been put to the fore as the main means to reach the objectives of reducing pesticides consumption within the framework of the French national Ecophyto plan.?This article analyses the determinants of this agricultural land use in order to identify policy levers to induce its adoption.?We give particular consideration to potential neighborhood effects.?To do so, we propose a spatial analysis, at the LAU 1 level (canton), of the determinants of crop diversification, over the extended Parisian Basin.?We show that besides traditional determinants such as soil and climate variables, a spatial scheme of the decision to diversify crop exists.
