Abstract:
Based on the contrast between the accelerated pace of China?s economic growth and the moderation of its demographic evolution, our topic is focused on the qualification of the population. A review of the literature on Chinese human capital is first proposed to highlight its progress as well as its limitations. It is then our own methodology for building two stocks of human capital that is presented. We detail the processes for determining stock depreciation rates; then the increases of the latter; and stock values for reference years. Our series of human capital stocks for China from 1949 to 2014 are finally delivered to readers.
